Das Beste kommt zum Schluss – bei den letzten drei Filmen, die auf dem portugiesischen Festival „Portuguese Cinema Days in Berlin 2021“ gezeigt werden, gibt es nur ein Problem: Man möchte sie am liebsten alle sehen!
„Amor Fati“ von Cláudia Varejão (2020) ist ein Dokumentarfilm über die Zuneigung, die zwei Teile zu einer Einheit zusammenwachsen lässt. Ob Zwillingsschwestern, ein älteres Ehepaar, ein Herrchen und sein Hund, eine Mutter und ihre Tochter: Alle erzählen Geschichten einer Intimität, die sie als Paar zusammenbindet.

Mit „Mosquito“ (2020) wollte João Nuno Pinto die Geschichte seines Opas erzählen, der als 17-Jähriger nach Mosambik ging, um diese portugiesische Kolonie im Ersten Weltkrieg gegen Deutschland zu verteidigen. Bei der Ankunft an Malaria erkrankt, musste er sehen wie seine Einheit ohne ihn abreiste. Nach der Genesung, machte er sich allein auf den Weg durch das unbekannte Land. Das Ergebnis ist ein ganz besonderer Antikriegsfilm, der sich als Odyssee durch moralische Fragen im kolonialen Kontext entwickelt.
Der Regisseur João Nuno Pinto wird trotz Pandemie anwesend sein, weil er, nach den vielen Lockdowns, sich nach dem Dialog mit dem Publikum in Berlin sehr sehnt.

In ihrem Film „Die Metamorphose der Vögel“/„A Metamorfose dos Pássaros“ (2020) versucht Catarina Vasconcelos die Erinnerung und die Trauer in ein Album der Familiengeschichte voller Schönheit und Ruhe zu verwandeln. Fer Film hat den Preis der FIPRESCI Jurys in der Berlinale 2020 gewonnen und wurde ausgewählt, um Portugal bei der Oscar-Verleihung in der Kategorie „Bester ausländischer Film“ zu vertreten.

Das Festival findet im Kino Moviemento statt (Kottbusser Damm 22). Die Filme werden in der Originalversion mit englischen Untertiteln gezeigt.

O melhor vem no final! Os últimos três filmes do festival „Dias do Cinema Português em Berlim 2021“ colocam apenas um problema: dá vontade de os ver todos.
„Amor Fati“ de Cláudia Varejão (2020) é um documentário sobre os afectos e a sensação de completude numa relação entre dois seres. Quer sejam irmãs gémeas, um casal de idosos, um homem e o seu cão, uma mãe e uma filha: todos contam histórias da intimidade que os une e deles faz um par.

Com „Mosquito“ (2020), João Nuno Pinto quis contar a história do seu avô, que foi para Moçambique quando tinha 17 anos para defender esta colónia portuguesa contra o exército alemão, durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial. À chegada foi infectado com malária e viu a sua unidade partir sem ele. Depois de recuperar, partiu sozinho através do território desconhecido. O resultado é um filme antiguerra muito especial, que se desenvolve como uma odisseia por entre questões morais num contexto colonial.
Apesar da pandemia, o director João Nuno Pinto estará presente porque, após os vários lockdowns, não quer perder esta oportunidade de dialogar com o público berlinense.

Em „The Metamorphosis of Birds“ (A Metamorfose dos Pássaros), Catarina Vasconcelos tenta transformar a memória e o sofrimento num álbum de história familiar cheio de beleza e tranquilidade. Este filme ganhou o prémio dos júris da FIPRESCI na Berlinale 2020 e foi seleccionado para representar Portugal nos Óscares na categoria „Melhor Filme Estrangeiro“.

With „Mosquito“ (2020), João Nuno Pinto wanted to tell the story of his grandfather, who as a 17-year-old went to Mozambique to defend this Portuguese colony against Germany during World War I. Falling ill with malaria upon arrival, he had to see his unit leave without him. After recovering, he set out alone through the unknown land. The result is a very special anti-war film that develops as an odyssey through moral issues in a colonial context.
The director João Nuno Pinto will be present despite the pandemic because, after the various lockdowns, he very much longs for a dialogue with the audience in Berlin.
